Professor Cyril Ayodele Ajayi
Professor Cyril Ayodele Ajayi is a distinguished Nigerian academic, Professor Emeritus of Estate Management, Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers and a Registered Estate Surveyor and Valuer. Born on October 27, 1952, in Efon Alaye, Ekiti, he has spent decades advancing the fields of property investment and valuation methodology. He joined Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in 1976 and attained the rank of Professor in 1999. In March 2025, he was appointed Professor Emeritus at OAU, becoming the third person in Nigeria to hold this title in Estate Management.
He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management at OAU. He served as Visiting Professor in Covenant University Ota, University of Lagos, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Arakeji and currently Redeemer’s University, Ede. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics at OAU.
His research focuses on Property Investment Valuation Methodology and property market dynamics He authored the seminal monograph Theories, Techniques and Practice of Development Appraisal (1997) and delivered the OAU Inaugural Lecture Property Market Dynamics and Paradigm Shifts in Investment Valuation Methodology (2010). His books on Property Valuation and Development Appraisal are widely used in the Universities and Polytechnics.
His work on Google Scholar covers topics such as property investment valuation, green building, facility management, and land policy reform. Professor Ajayi has supervised numerous PhD candidates and mentored many students who have since become Professors themselves.
Beyond academia, he is an ordained RCCG pastor. He is a member of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) and currently the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Board.
